The Renault 5 Turbo 3E has just become even more thrilling, with power increased to 536bhp and a staggering 3,540 lb-ft (4,800Nm) of torque. This impressive boost propels the hot hatch from 0-62mph in under 3.5 seconds, making it a true powerhouse. With a weight of just 1,450kg, the new R5 Turbo packs a punch and brings back the exciting performance Renault’s 1980s icon was known for.
Designed for rally, drifting, and track days, the 3E is built on a bespoke Alpine aluminum platform and features in-wheel motors that each deliver 268bhp. These motors offer “immediate power,” replicating the turbo rush of yesteryear but without the lag. The 800V technology and 70kWh battery provide a rapid 15-80% charge in just 15 minutes, ensuring this electric beast is always ready for action.
Despite its performance, the interior of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is minimalistic, designed to resemble a race car more than a road vehicle. Inside, you’ll find a pair of digital displays (10.1-inch and 10.25-inch), bucket seats with six-point harnesses, and a rally-style vertical handbrake. Carbon fiber and Alcantara finishes complete the track-ready feel.
Only 1,980 units will be produced, each numbered, and available starting in 2027. Although pricing is yet to be confirmed, expect it to start at around £120,000, with options that could push the price even higher.
