Renault plans to introduce its Alpine sports car within the next three years, according to autocar.co.uk.
First seen in concept form during the 2012 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, the Alpine A110-50 Concept paid tribute to the Alpine A110 sports car and rally legend of the 1960s and 1970s.
However, Renault has recently confirmed that the small sports will make it into production, and will appear before the year 2016. “It won’t be more hardcore than a Mazda MX-5. What we do will not be soft, but not hardcore like a Peugeot 106 Rallye.” said Renault marketing boss Stephen Norman.
The new Alpine will be co-developed with Caterham and is expected to rival cars like the Porsche Boxster and Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class with a price tag of less than $80,000.
