The Renault Filante Record 2025 is not your typical electric vehicle. With its futuristic design resembling a mix of the Michael Keaton-era Batmobile and a Star Wars Podracer, this cutting-edge electric supercar is built to break world records. Renault’s latest creation is a single-seater designed to challenge power consumption and range records using an 87kWh battery, aiming to revolutionize electric vehicle performance.
Inspired by Renault’s historic racing legacy, the Filante Record 2025 pays homage to classic record-breaking models like the 40 CV des Records (1925), the Nervasport des Records (1934), and the Étoile Filante (1956). The latter, a jet-engine-powered, 270bhp single-seater, famously broke four world records at Bonneville Salt Flats.
The Filante Record 2025 continues this tradition, featuring design elements borrowed from fighter jets and aeronautical engineering. Renault describes the car as a “sculpture in motion,” with a cockpit that evokes a fighter jet’s precision and sleek lines that reflect the spirit of both speed and elegance. The dramatic round LED headlights, separated wheels, and streamlined fairings enhance aerodynamics, while the body is made of carbon fiber, helping reduce weight and boost efficiency.
Though Renault has yet to release official drag coefficient data, wind tunnel tests in Spring 2025 will further refine the vehicle’s aerodynamics. Built in collaboration with Ligier Automotive, this electric marvel has been engineered to be as aerodynamically efficient as possible, with a design focused on record-breaking performance.
At 5.12 meters long and weighing under 1,000kg, the Filante Record 2025 is a lightweight powerhouse. Despite the substantial weight of its 600kg battery, the use of carbon fiber and 3D-printed Scalmalloy parts keeps the car’s overall weight impressively low. The chassis is crafted from a mix of aluminum, carbon, and steel alloys, optimizing performance without compromising strength.
The car also features cutting-edge technology, including steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems. Instead of traditional pedals, the driver uses unique grab handles on the steering wheel to control acceleration and braking. The flexible central screen in the wheel displays essential data, including speed and range, further emphasizing the car’s futuristic design.
Inside, the cabin takes inspiration from space travel, with a hammock-style seat made from stretched canvas, offering comfort for long runs in pursuit of speed records. Renault has already set its sights on surpassing the Mercedes Vision EQXX’s efficiency record of 8.4 miles per kWh. With world-record attempts scheduled for 2025, the Filante Record 2025 is poised to make history as the ultimate electric performance vehicle.
