After the release of rFactor back in 2005, Image Space Incorporated is now hard at work developing the racing sim’s sequel: rFactor 2, which is set for a late 2012 release [exclusively for PC].
According to ISI, rFactor 2 will for the first time place the driver in the dynamic environment real life drivers feel every weekend. With moving trackside objects, changes to the racing line including rubber build-up and marbles, day-night-day transitions, wet-dry transitions and a very advanced new tire model, no two laps will truly feel the same.
rFactor 2 is powered by the gMotor gaming engine, also used on games such as BMW M3 Challenge; it will include weather effects, reflections, and accurate shadows on a variety of textures.
To prove just how advanced the simulator is, ISI released this video showcasing the effects of real life physics on a tyre; the graphics might not be on par with Gran Turismo 5, but the realism in rFactor 2 is arguably miles ahead.
The second video is for promotional purposes, featuring Grand Prix racing in Monaco.
