With just two rallies to go before the end of the 2013 World Rally Championship, ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica has been promoted to a WRC seat with the Citroen Abu Dhabi World Rally Team.
The Pole has been contesting the 2013 season on a Citroen DS3 RRC in the WRC 2 category, and he’s currently leading the championship ahead of Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari. Kubica will need to win next week’s Rally Spain in order to clinch the title, before being handed the keys to the DS3 WRC in Britain.
Al-Kuwari meanwhile will take part in the Catalunya Rally on a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, but will return to WRC 2 to complete his programme in Great Britain.
