Robert Kubica will not be banned from rallying

Should Robert Kubica be banned from rallying? … Renault thinks not!!!

The RENAULT Formula 1 team will probably allow Robert Kubica to continue rallying, should the Pole recover from the serious injuries he sustained two weekends ago.

The Pole, who has had sporadic rally outings, has openly admitted that he considers the Sport, a passion rather than a hobby. His accident prompted suggestions that Renault would ban him from rallying, but team boss Eric Boullier says that will not be the case.

“We do what we believe is best for the team and the driver,” Boullier said at last week at Jerez test. “Robert is like a wild cat – if you put him in a cage, you make him mad. So why do it? Before he got to this corner [where he crashed], he was the happiest man in the world.“

Kubica added that he had no regrets about entering the Ronde di Andora event. “Had I not done it, I would have stayed home regretting it.” he said. “I drive better in F1 because rallying has allowed me to work on certain aspects of myself.” Kubica added that rallying also allows him to stay sharp between F1 outings.
