Roger Feghali second in Rallye d’Antibes as Lebanese drivers impress

May 22, 2016 – Roger Feghali completed the 2016 Rallye d’Antibes Côte d’Azur in second place overall onboard the Citroen DS3 WRC after a commanding performance and despite facing a couple of issues that hindered his bid to win.

Feghali and co-driver Joseph Matar took the lead of the rally after winning the second special stage on Saturday, but a puncture in SS3 dropped them to 6th place overall after losing 40 seconds.

Roger then managed to fight back, winning all of the remaining stages on Saturday (SS4, SS5 & SS6), and five more on Sunday (SS7, SS8, SS10, SS11 & SS12) to climb to second place overall and end up just 12.7 seconds behind eventual winner David Salanon (Ford Fiesta WRC).

The Lebanese rally champion also had an intercom problem in SS6, which made his race all the more challenging.

On the other hand, Patrick Njeim, Rodolphe Asmar and Nassib Nassar, who all drove a Peugeot 208 R2, successfully reached the finish line in their first ever European appearance, completing the event 54th, 60th and 78th respectively out of 140 competitors.
