After their horrifying accident last year, Cool Racing team did some last minute preparations to be ready for Sunday’s 4×4 event.
We met Said Zacca who will be driving the team’s Wrangler this Sunday for a quick chat to tell us about their preparation ahead of the event.
How is your preparation ahead of Sunday’s event?
Last year we had a huge shunt and it was very difficult to overcome the accident. Directly after the accident a group of friends gave us all their support. I will mention Alain Melki, HovickPayesian, Saleh 4×4, and ElieKhoury, Fine tune, Marwan and Boudie.
As you know we had some last minute preparations and getting a sponsor on such a short notice is very difficult. Richie Honien can’t drive in this event because he is competing in a karting competition and the date of the 4×4 event changed several times and we received confirmation few days ago that it will happen this Sunday. Due to these reasons I will be driving the team’s car this weekend.
How do you feel on the personal level after last year’s accident?
The guys around me and the Cool Racing Team didn’t give me a second to think about the accident, they were all supportive to the maximum. I have no problem on the personal level, but our car is not on the same level of its competitors which are much faster than us.
What are your plans for this rally and the season?
For this rally we are in for fun and our target is to finish the rally. We are not sure about the upcoming events especially that we don’t have enough sponsors, we have invested a lot from our own pockets this time. Our long term project would to prepare a good car for next year so I can participate with Richie on it and try to compete.
I would also like to thank Daline and tell my parents that there is nothing to worry about. The worse has gone and everything is safe.
How do you see the track you’re competing on, Sunday?
I didn’t see the track yet. 2 years ago I was the opening car and I guess it’s a little bumpy but other than that we are there to enjoy it.
