Shelby American Brings Back the GT350 with 810 HP
Shelby American has resurrected the iconic GT350 nameplate, introducing a new high-performance powerhouse that’s more powerful than ever. The latest GT350, which pays homage to the legendary Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 first unveiled nearly 60 years ago, isn’t just a nostalgic reissue—it’s a modern performance beast.
This revival comes from Shelby American, the successor to Carroll Shelby’s original shop, and is not a product of Ford’s factory. At its heart, the new GT350 is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, boosting the Mustang’s stock 500 horsepower to an astounding 810 horsepower. This replaces the previous naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 engine, known as the Voodoo, which powered the last Shelby GT350 with 526 hp before it was discontinued in 2020.
Beyond the engine, Shelby American has equipped the GT350 with several upgrades to improve its handling and performance. These include a revised suspension system, a more aggressive exhaust setup, and a striking new exterior design featuring a wider stance, additional intakes, and a bold rear wing for aerodynamic efficiency. Shelby will also offer a lower-powered variant, pushing out 480 horsepower without the supercharger.
For those seeking the ultimate track-focused experience, Shelby introduces the GT350R, a street-legal version of the performance car with over 830 horsepower. The GT350R comes exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission and features a carbon-fiber interior, racing seats, a roll cage, and adjustable track suspension. The car’s lightweight construction, paired with upgraded brakes and an aggressive aerodynamic package, makes it a formidable machine on both the road and the track.
In keeping with the legacy of the original GT350, only 562 units will be built for 2025, mirroring the production run from 1965. The supercharged GT350 will start at $109,999, with production beginning in the second quarter of the year. Sales will be handled through select Ford dealerships, with a Ford powertrain warranty still in place and a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty provided by Shelby American.
For the GT350R, production will be even more limited, with only 36 units being crafted by Michigan-based Turn Key Automotive/Motorsports. The GT350R will come in white, with a choice of different stripes and graphic packages, though its price remains unannounced.
Shelby’s new GT350 lineup promises to deliver a thrilling driving experience, combining modern technology with the brand’s storied racing legacy. The 2025 models are expected to continue Shelby’s dominance on both the street and the track.
