The 2024 Silverstone Festival honors Ayrton Senna’s incredible career, 30 years after his passing, with a special tribute at his “home away from home.”
Silverstone holds a special place in Ayrton Senna’s heart and career, making it the ideal setting to honor the legendary driver 30 years after his tragic passing. Senna first arrived in the UK in 1981, at the age of 21, to compete in Formula Ford. It was here, on British tracks, that he honed his skills, ultimately securing a place in Formula 1, where he raced exclusively for British teams like Toleman, Lotus, McLaren, and Williams.
Remarkably, Senna achieved more wins at Silverstone than at any other circuit during his career. In total, he competed in 20 races at the iconic track, winning half of them, including a memorable British Grand Prix victory in 1988 in wet conditions. Now, 30 years after his death, the Silverstone Festival is set to pay tribute to Senna’s legacy with what might be the largest collection of Senna-related cars ever assembled.
Senna’s niece, Bianca Senna, and CEO of Senna Brands, expressed excitement for the event, which promises to resonate with fans worldwide. The festival will showcase some of Senna’s most iconic vehicles, including his Formula Ford 2000 and Formula 3 cars, as well as the F1 cars that defined his career. Highlights will include his 1983 Williams FW08C, the Toleman TG183B he tested at Silverstone, and the McLarens and Lotus cars that helped him dominate the track.
In addition to the racing, the Silverstone Festival will feature a range of events, from classic car displays to concerts. Visitors can also explore the Silverstone Museum, where memorabilia from Senna’s career, such as his 1985 Estoril race-winning car, trophies, and gloves, will be on display.
