June 28, 2014 – A 2015 Subaru WRX STi driven by Mark Higgins has set a new four-wheel lap record at the widely famous Isle of Man TT, one of the most dangerous motorcycle racing events in the world.
Higgins lapped the TT Mountain Course in 19 minutes 26 seconds, beating his previous record, set in a 2011 Impreza WRX STi, by 30 seconds. Speeds during the lap ranged from as little as 50 km/h to over 257 km/h, while average speed reached 187 km/h.
The all-time fastest record belongs to John McGuinness who, in 2013, clocked a 17 minutes 11.6 seconds on a Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle with an average speed of 212 km/h.
Update: Subaru has released a video of the record-breaking lap. Watch it below.
