After a respectable and impressive Spring Rally result and after some advertising for Stoli we met Tamer Ghandour at his work place to stand on his preparation for the upcoming Cedars rally.
Tamer we know that you are experiencing some difficulties in terms of sponsors lately but you surprised us with an Ad with Stoli Vodka. What can you tell us about it?
There is no surprise in terms of sponsors. It has been the case since I started rallying and if there is a sponsor it will be something very humble. We don’t know if the new coverage will give us a boost. It has been very good in the 4×4 and speed test events. Thing will need time to pay off anyways.
Regarding the Ad, it was an approach from Stoli to invest our image in something that has a good cause like you mentioned in your website earlier. This will help us in enlighten the young guys about speed and related matters, and we hope this will give us more exposure for the future. It is another source of liquidity in order to continuity.
We saw that you were very consistent in the Spring rally, what are you aiming for in the Cedars rally?
Regarding consistency, I was in a very bad state of mind. I didn’t prepare for the rally and I was having sponsor problem and I could have not participated in first place. I was not very motivated anyway, but we were good although we can be much better in my opinion. Regarding the Cedars Rally, I am very motivated, and I have decided to do the rally anyway. I don’t have insurance neither do I have sponsors so it will not be easy, but I’m not going to give excuses. My state of mind is much better, and I will try to do my best to benefit and have a good rally.
R4 kits are available for the Cedars rally and many drivers will this step and install them. What difference will they make?[singlepic id=688 w=320 h=240 float=right]
It is an advantage, and we will not deny this at all. The driver and the car and the nature of the roads will play a big role but I believe that it will make a better difference on the EVO 10. It will make a much bigger difference on the longer runs and not the shorter runs. Nobody has exact details on the size of the difference but the difference is there. I won’t say that people are on R4 kits and start giving excuses I said before; I will push as hard as possible to come closer to the R4 cars.
Who are your main competitors in the rally?
In every rally I participate in consider people with the same car I have are my competitors. Everyone is investing and improving. To be more precise, I would like to compete and try to bother Nicholai Georgiou and Nicolas Amiouni. All the other drivers are my competitors too.
There is an official test that will take place next week on Monday and Tuesday, what are your targets in the test?
I am not looking for speed in this test. I will try to understand the car much better. I will work on the suspension setup. I will work on the diffs on the anti-lag and other areas of the car to maximize its output. I want to change the concept of testing and try a different strategy. I might benefit and I might not. We will see. This time I will try to give better feedback to MotorTune on the condition of the car.
Any last message?
I would like to thanks all my fans. I would like to thank biser3a.com for the effort you are doing and for the interviews you are doing with all the drivers and the effort to stay neutral and this is what’s making biser3a.com special. We hope you continue like this.
I would like to thanks Sports Evasion and specially Bassam El Turk. They are helping us with in maintaining our continuity in the rally. They will feature on my car in the rally. I would like to thank MotorTune for their moral and technical support. I would hope that we have a nice competition and spirit in the rally. I hope the rivalry would be expressed in the car and not outside and the rallies would stay ethical just like the WRC rally in Jordan earlier this year that ended on a difference of 0.2 seconds and everything stayed okay.
