Team Black Falcon heads to Silverstone for Blancpain Endurance action

After securing overall victory during the fourth round of the 2014 VLN Championship, Team Black Falcon hopes to maintain the momentum as its travels to the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom for the second round of the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series.

The German squad is once again entering two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3s, the first of which will compete in the GT3 Pro class, with Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal, Hubert Haupt and Andreas Simonsen on driving duties, while the all-Russian line-up consisting of Mikhail Loboda, Yury Loboda and Vladimir Lunkin share the second Mercedes in the GT3 Pro-Am class.

The legendary Silverstone Circuit is known for its high-speed layout, particularly in the first sector, which includes one of the finest sequences of corners of any track in the world. Corners range from fast sweepers to long, slow complex near the end.

Its high-speed nature puts stress on the tyres and engines, as the drivers will not use the brakes at any stage during the first half of the lap. The car must also cope with the bumpy surface and unpredictable winds that always affect the track.

During the first round of the championship in Monza, the #18 Mercedes of AlFaisal, Simonsen and Haupt crossed the finish line 14th overall and 9th in the GT3 Pro class after driving through the field from 23rd position, while the #19 Mercedes retired due an on-track collision.

The 3 Hours of Silverstone kicks off on Friday, May 23rd with a Bronze Test session, followed by Free Practice, Pre-Qualifying and Qualifying on Saturday and the Main Race on Sunday, May 25th at 13:55 GMT.
