Lebanon prides itself on having a large drift community, but what most of you don’t know is that the country also prides itself on having one of the best drifting teams in Scandinavia and Europe: Team Pony Drift, founded by Lebanese drifter and car enthusiast Michel Rayes.
Team Pony Drift was established in Sweden, back in 2009. Today, it is one of the most prominent teams in Scandinavia, operating four cars and competing in the highest level with drifters from USA, New Zealand and all of Europe.
One of the team’s star cars is a 1100 horsepower Ford Mustang, nicknamed “The Beast”, it is the world’s most powerful drift Mustang. Team Pony Drift runs a second Mustang with 400hp, a Nissan S14 Silvia with a 600hp 2JZ engine and a widebody BMW E30 3 Series featuring a 450hp Mercedes-Benz V12 engine.
Michel Rayes also operates Pony Drift Academy; the academy has taught more than 500 students how to properly drift and has helped some of these students become professional drifters known across Europe.
The team is always ready to join just about any drift event in Europe, and they have taken part in countless events, including Gatebil, the biggest and most popular drift event in the world. During a season, one Team Pony Drift car uses over 600 tyres, so that’s more than 2400 tyres for the whole team.
Team Pony Drift’s aim is to further expand, cater for more drivers and manage more cars, and although the team does not perform in the Middle East, it is good to know that TPD are agents for Wisefab drifting parts in the region.
We’ve uploaded some spectacular shots of the team’s competition cars, including one Ford Mustang proudly displaying the Lebanese flag. Also, you might want to check out this brilliant video from Gatebil 2014.
