March 31, 2017 – When RYMCO gave me the keys to the Infiniti QX60, the first question I asked myself was: How is a single 24-year-old guy like me supposed to properly test drive a large premium SUV that’s targeted for families?
Surely, the QX60 isn’t meant for single people. However, I do have my “clique” of friends, and they would never say no to a road-trip in a brand new Infiniti.
Hauling 4 adults proved to be an effortless task for the QX60 as the 3.5-liter V6 engine provides good punch (265 horsepower and 336 Nm of torque), especially when you switch it from Standard or Eco mode to Sport mode. Thanks to the seamless CVT transmission, power delivery felt extremely linear and it made the driving experience super comfortable.
The brakes were a bit on the soft side and so was the steering, but that’s exactly how they should be in a large luxury SUV; it isn’t a race car, so everything has to feel smooth, and this was indeed the case.
What I particularly loved about the QX60 is how it floats on the road as it beautifully irons out imperfections like bumps and potholes. In fact, one of my friends enjoyed the ride so much that she compared it to a PlayStation, because you don’t really feel road imperfections on a gaming console.
The QX60 can comfortably seat up to 7 people, so cabin space was ample for all 4 of us, and there’s plenty of stuff to keep you entertained, including 7-inch displays behind the driver and passenger headrests and a Bose sound system that makes the road-trip music experience all the better.
Standard equipment are aplenty and they include remote engine start, automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen display, second & third-row panoramic moon roof, front and rear parking sensors and more.
I don’t know about you, but I think the QX60 has one of the best exterior designs in the segment, whereas the interior is nothing spectacular but it gets the job done as it’s both well-built and luxurious. I’m not going to further elaborate on the design because I believe looks are subjective, but I do like what I’m looking at.
All in all, I truly enjoyed spending a day in the QX60, and for the price of 69,900 USD (VAT included), it’s hard to find anything better or more luxurious in that segment. It’s an honest family SUV that doesn’t pretend to be anything else and that offers great value for money.
