The Saudi falcons are looking forward and set for their new challenge on the Reem circuit with all excitement. The 7th and 8th rounds of the Porsche GT3 CCME championship will take place between the 6th and 7th of February. The team has finished its preparation for the upcoming round after around 2 months of winter break. The team’s last participation was in the Dubai 24 hours race where they lead for around 19 hours before mechanical problems ended their campaign.
The team enters the upcoming rounds of the championship with hope that home soil will play in its favor. It is the first time this season that the team drives between the local Saudi fans. The team though has made numerous victories outside KSA especially with Red Bull athlete Abdulaziz Turki Alfaisal, and the ATF is now leading the championship with a total tally of 140 points, ahead of his toughest competitors Nabooda’s Clemens Schmidt who is 12 points away.
On the other hand the team’s founder Faisal Binladen lays in second place with 85 points in the silver category (Michelin cup) behind Kuwait’s Zeid Ashkanani. In this context Faisal will be looking to grab first place and try to reduce the gap in the fight for the teams’ championship. Faisal also is looking more on the up in his latest displays especially after the huge improvement he showed at the last race in the Dubai 24 hours race. The team now trails Nabooda with 20 points.
Ahead of the race ATF had declared the following: “We are ready to claim victory in front of our beloved Saudi fans who always come to support us in all the races that take place in Riyadh. The fans were the main reason for our win in the past 3 years, and the 7 wins we had on this track earlier. The Riyadh rounds have always produced thrill and competition to the Porsche GT3 CCME and was one of the most important reasons in the advancement of this championship in the region.”
Faisal also added: “The team is very well prepared for the coming races. Its always great when I drive in front of my home fans, and alongside my teammate ATF we are looking to make the fans happy. I am also looking to reduce the gap with Nabooda and try to claim the championship title when it reaches its closure.”
