This Bloodhound SSC has 77500 horsepower and can exceed 1500km/h

Bloodhound is building one of the meanest machines known to man in a bid to set a new world land speed record.

Dubbed the “SSC”, it is powered by a Eurofighter Typhoon jet engine and a rocket, together producing a total output of 77,500 horsepower. Fuel consumption is at 40 liters of fuel per second, but how do you pump 40 liters of fuel in one second? Using a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 Jaguar engine with 540 horsepower, the exact same engine found in the Jaguar F-Type.

Bloodhound and Jaguar aim to set a new land speed record with the SSC next year, and the target is to hit 1280 km/h, with Andy Green behind the wheel. If that wasn’t enough, the team aims to reach more than 1600 km/h in 2016.
