This Golf Mk1 is a mix of VW, Audi and Porsche

October 3, 2016 – At first glance, it might look like any jacked up Volkswagen Golf Mk1, but when you take a closer look, you’ll discover that the only “Golf” thing about it is the exterior.

Look through the rear windows and you’ll find a large engine sitting in the middle: it’s a 4.2-liter Audi V8 that produces 350 horsepower. The interior? it’s from a 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 and the 6-speed manual transmission is from a 2004 Audi S4 (same as the engine). The suspension components are taken from a 1995 Volkswagen Corrado VR6.

This is the work of the guys at DM Motorsport, who aren’t quite happy with the output figure and want to squeeze out more than 450 horsepower by turbocharging the engine in the near future. However, the car’s already pretty quick as it weighs 1100 kilograms and completes the quarter mile in 12.26 seconds, which is quicker than a modern VW Golf R or Ford Focus RS.
