This is the rare Mercedes SL73 AMG that you probably didn’t know existed

May 16, 2017 – Before Mercedes AMG gave Pagani the monstrous 7.3-liter V12 to power the Zonda, they used it on one of their own cars: the Mercedes SL73 AMG.

The massive engine was dropped into the R129 generation of the SL roadster, produced between 1990 and 2002. However, to get an SL73 AMG, customers needed to buy an SL600 and hand it over to AMG for the conversion which cost approximately 50,000 USD.

The result was an SL AMG that produces 525bhp and 750Nm of torque, and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds. In the Pagani Zonda 760 series, that same engines makes 750bhp and 780Nm of torque.

With only 85 constructed, chances are you’ll never see an SL73 AMG in the flesh.
