December 10, 2015 – The 2015 edition of the Lebanese Hill Climb Championship was perhaps the most hotly-contested championship in years, with brothers Roger and Abdo Feghali going neck-and-neck in the first two rounds of the season, while Paul Kossaifi and Garo Haroutiouninan gave us a great battle for rear-wheel drive glory throughout the year.
Naturally, when the level of competition is this high, the drivers tend to push their cars to the limit to gain that valuable extra tenth of a second, and when the drivers are pushing, the footage that our team records gets better and better.
Here are the top 5 Lebanese Hill Climb drives of 2015 based on YouTube viewership count:
5. Abdo Feghali in Falougha Hill Climb
Abdo had won the first round in Deir El Qamar, and he looked like he could make it two wins a row in Falougha after setting the quickest times in the first and second heats, only to lose out to his brother Roger by just 0.93 seconds in the third and final heat. However, his run to second place was flawless.
4. Paul Kossaifi in Bkassine Hill Climb
Having won in Deir El Qamar – whilst his rival Garo Haroutiounian retired – and finished second in Falougha, Paul Kossaifi didn’t have to push to secure the Lebanese RWD Hill Climb title, but he did it anyway, winning the race and successfully clinching the RWD crown after a spectacular drive.
3. Michel Zgheib in Falougha Hill Climb
After taking the SM4 class win Deir El Qamar, Michel Zgheib’s winning form continued in the second round of the Lebanese Hill Climb Championship as he put in an exceptional drive in Falougha to record a second consecutive SM4 victory and finish 3rd in the rear-wheel drive category.
2. Michel Zgheib in Bkassine Hill Climb
You would think that producing a performance better than the ones we’ve seen in Deir El Qamar and Falougha was a very tough task for Michel Zgheib in Bkassine, but he made it look easy again after another stunning drive, to make it three out of three wins in the SM4 class in 2015.
1. Roger Feghali in Falougha Hill Climb
It’s the drive of the year. Roger Feghali’s sensational performance in Falougha meant that he not only won the event, but broke the track record as well. His outstanding run made headlines on several international publications, including Top Gear, which is enough to give it the number 1 spot this year.
