Toyota 86 Shooting Brake revealed

May 6, 2016 – Toyota’s Australian division has revealed a more practical version of the GT86, dubbed the 86 Shooting Brake. However, it’s just a one-off and it won’t go into production.

The project started in late 2014 when the car’s global chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, traveled to Australia where he was shown a scale model of the car. He liked the idea of an 86 Shooting Brake and decided to build one with help from an Australian design team.

The concept is fully functional, which means it has the 2.0-liter flat-four engine that produces 200 horsepower. The car’s front-end has been retained, while modifications were naturally done to the roof and rear end.
