Despite the GR Supra’s rumored end, Toyota updates its GT4 racing variant with enhanced braking and cooling systems for improved performance in 2025.
While rumors swirl about the possible end of the Toyota GR Supra, the brand’s GT4 racing program remains strong. Initially launched in 2019, the GR Supra GT4 EVO debuted for the 2020 race season with a price tag of $194,000, offering 430 horsepower for use in GT4 racing series across Europe and the U.S.
Though production of the Supra’s sister car, the BMW Z4, is expected to end in 2026, potentially signaling the Supra’s departure as well, Toyota is pushing forward with its racing variant. The automaker recently introduced the GR Supra GT4 EVO2, an updated version of the original GT4 EVO.
The new EVO2 includes several customer-requested enhancements. Toyota Gazoo Racing re-tuned the ABS software to improve braking, refined the transmission software to optimize rev-matching for quicker downshifts, and upgraded cooling systems for the brakes, drivetrain, and cockpit to improve performance in hotter climates.
The 2025 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 will make its racing debut in January 2025 at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge during the 24 Hours of Daytona.
