March 15, 2016 – Although they cater for different kinds of customers, with the BMW M2 being a compact two-door coupe, while the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 is a compact four-door coupe, the two cars are actually quite evenly matched in terms of performance figures.
The smallest M model in BMW’s line-up is powered by a turbocharged 370-horsepower six-cylinder engine that sends 465 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, whilst the Mercedes’ turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 381 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque and pushes all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as well.
Despite benefiting from extra grip thanks its all-wheel drive system, the Mercedes is disadvantaged by being around 70 kilograms heavier than the BMW. Check out how they compare on the Hockenheim circuit in the video below.
