Fitness, food and combat sports fans were in seventh heaven on Saturday as the inaugural Abu Dhabi Showdown Week drew to a close with a final day of city-wide events and activations to further cement the UAE capital’s reputation as the region’s ultimate leisure destination.
Day seven of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week started by turning the spotligh on fitness with the Abu Dhabi Sport & Fitness Expo welcoming four-time Mr Olympia Jay Cutler and fellow professional bodybuilder Mike O’Hearn, who posed for photographs with fans and shared their secrets on how to achieve ultimate goals and build a career in fitness.
Elsewhere at the Expo, Muay Thai, Crossfit and bodybuilding championships concluded with the region’s best talent across a range of disciplines putting their skills to the test in front of an enthralled audience, who were encouraged to join in the action in a series of fitness activations.
Abu Dhabi Showdown Week – the week-long mixed martial arts an entertainment created by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi) – also crowned food champions following the finals of the Ultimate Burger Championship in which competitors were challenged to tackle a 1.5kg burger.
