Video HD – Cedars Rally 2013 Review

Abdo Feghali secured his third Cedars Rally victory – alongside a Group N triumph – during the 2013 edition of the event which took place on the 21st of July, with Roger Feghali retiring from the lead halfway into the race due to a mechanical problem on his Fiesta R5; Roger joined a long list of withdrawals including 9 other drivers. Nicolas Amiouni and Gilbert Bannout snatched 2nd and 3rd respectively, the latter also won the Class 2 category.

Behind Gilbert Bannout’s MINI RRC came Chafic Boulos, followed by Eddy Bou Karam and Joseph Hindy, all driving Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Xs. Qatari driver and 2010 Middle East Rally Champion Misfer Al-Marri finished 7th overall, a distant 4 minutes off the lead, on the Fiesta RRC, while Garo Haroutian took 8th overall on the Evo IX.

Robert Aaraj scored the front-wheel drive class win by finishing 9th overall on the Renault Clio R3, ahead of rivals Henry Massaad and Bechara Bechir who settled for 10th and 12th respectively, separated by Evo X driver Nabil Abdelhak.

Although he was last of the 14 finishers, Ziad Karanouh took the Class 6 trophy on the Peugeot 207.

The remaining 10 drivers retired because of mechanical failures on their cars, bar Rabih Ayoub and Michel Feghali who were involved in two separate accidents, both in which they escaped unscathed.
