Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR revealed with more than 300 horsepower

March 8, 2016Volkswagen has released the first official photos of its new Golf GTI TCR racecar that is designed to compete in international TCR touring car championships.

Volkswagen Motorsport developed the car in cooperation with the sport department at SEAT; the Golf GTI TCR benefits from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 330 hp and produces 410 Nm of torque; the engine is mated to a sequential gearbox with shift paddles located on the steering wheel.

The Golf GTI TCR is easily distinguishable thanks to 18-inch racing rims, a chassis that is roughly 40 centimeters wider than the production Golf, an aerodynamic front splitter and a massive carbon rear wing.

Volkswagen will only build twenty Golf GTI TCRs this year and all the models have been sold.
