January 26, 2016 – Rumor has it that Volkswagen is preparing to launch the facelifted Volkswagen Golf Mk7 at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it will be shortly followed by the hardcore Golf R420.
The facelifted Mk7 will receive minor aesthetic updates, including revised bumpers, lights, colours and trims with technology upgrades. However, all eyes will be on the R420 variant that is rumored to be the fastest Golf ever and the world’s most powerful hatchback.
The Golf R420 (or R400) could receive a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit or a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with at least 420 horsepower; the engine will be mated to a six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission which transfers power to all four wheels via VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
