The European New Car Assessment Programme has recently crowned Volvo’s all-new 2013 V40 as one of the safest modern vehicles ever tested after putting the car through an array of crash tests.
The test consists of four main categories: adult occupant, child occupant, pedestrian and safety assist. The V40 managed to score a 98 per cent score on adult occupant, the first car ever to do so, while it came away with an 88 per cent score on child occupant mainly due to its innovative pedestrian airbag; the airbag is hidden underneath the hood and acts as a cushion for pedestrians whenever contact is detected.
If safety is your main concern when it comes to buying a car, then the Volvo V40 is a car you should seriously consider. Oh and in case you were wondering, the V40 is offered with three petrol engines: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with either 150 hp or 180 hp, and a 2.5 five-cylinder engine with 254 hp.
