April 28, 2016 – A front suspension failure for Jari-Matti Latvala in the 14th special stage of the 2016 Rally Argentina last weekend saw him heavily crash out of the event and therefore hand the lead to Hyundai rival Hayden Paddon, who went on to take his first ever World Rally Championship victory and the first for a driver from New Zealand.
Latvala’s Volkswagen Polo R WRC was severely damaged after rolling several times. However, the Volkswagen Motorsport team rebuilt the car and sent it back out on the following day, transforming it from smash-up to showroom condition in less than 3 hours, and they released this timelapse clip to show us how they did it.
