Porsche has officially teased its latest creation—the 963 RSP, a road-ready hypercar inspired by its endurance racing legacy. This one-off vehicle is based on the 963 race car and appears to blend motorsport engineering with street-legal design.
Hints of this project surfaced last month when Porsche spotlighted a rare 1975 street-converted 917 race car. That retrospective video hinted at a modern revival, and now Porsche has confirmed the 963 RSP as the centerpiece of that mystery.
The new teaser showcases the car’s meticulous construction. Porsche artisans are shown handcrafting components, sewing upholstery, sanding carbon-fiber bodywork, and carefully mixing custom paint. In a key moment, a real Porsche badge is applied to the hood—different from the lightweight sticker used on the actual race cars.
While Porsche hasn’t revealed performance details, the 963 RSP will likely share a powertrain similar to its track-only sibling. The original 963 features a twin-turbo V8 paired with a seven-speed sequential gearbox and a rear-mounted electric motor, delivering hybrid performance engineered for endurance racing.
The name “RSP” remains a mystery, though some believe it may reference Roger Penske, who leads Porsche’s top-tier racing program and has enjoyed major wins in IMSA and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Only one Porsche 963 RSP will be made, making it a truly exclusive collector’s piece. Its debut is expected before the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, starting June 14, continuing Porsche’s tradition of merging race technology with the road.
