Sebastien Loeb has taken command of the 2012 edition of Rally Deutschland after a flawless drive on a day that saw his title rivals falter in changing conditions.
The Citroen driver goes into Day 3 with a 1m42.9s cushion over second-placed Jari-Matti Latvala who’s holding a comfortable gap from Loeb’s teammate Mikko Hirvonen in third.
Chris Atkinson took advantage of Ott Tanak and Dani Sordo’s miseries to move his Mini up to fifth place behind third-placed and M-Sport Ford driver Mads Ostberg.
Despite crashing out, Tanak was the star of Saturday afternoon after going fastest through SS10 and SS11.
After retiring on Saturday following damage to his Ford Fiesta RS WRC, Petter Solberg will be returning tomorrow morning for the final day of the action from Germany.
