WRC Rally Spain 2014 – Day 3: Ogier in comfortable lead

Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier holds a comfortable lead in Rally Spain 2014, the penultimate round of the 2014 WRC season, despite his team mate Jari-Matti Latvala’s efforts to close the gap.

Latvala won four out of six special stages today and managed to reduce yesterday’s 36-second gap to 27 seconds. Ogier went quickest in only the fourth stage (SS11), while Andreas Mikkelsen, who’s down in seventh overall, scored the fastest time in Saturday’s closing stage (SS13).

M-Sport Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen is third overall, almost a minute behind the leaders; he is followed by the Citroen of Mads Osbterg and the two Hyundais of Dani Sordo and Thierry Neuville.

Ogier will be announced World Champion for the second consecutive year if he wins tomorrow.
