The upcoming 2027 Mercedes GLC EV blends futuristic technology with a design that closely resembles the current gas-powered GLC. Although the electric version is slightly larger with a longer wheelbase, it retains much of the traditional GLC styling, including a new illuminated grille. Mercedes seems to have moved away from bold, futuristic designs like the EQE and EQS, opting for a more familiar look in its electric vehicles.
Inside, however, the 2027 GLC EV takes a giant leap into the future. The standout feature is the optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, a massive touchscreen that spans nearly the entire dashboard. Mid-trim models get a “Superscreen” setup with three separate displays, and base models feature a digital picture frame-style passenger screen. The cabin also boasts a panoramic glass roof with optional liquid crystals that can change from clear to semi-opaque, offering a unique experience. The roof can even light up with Mercedes stars to match the vehicle’s ambient lighting.
Mercedes’ 4D Burmeister sound system vibrates the seats, letting you feel the music, while the AI-powered MB.OS operating system offers features like facial recognition, remote payments, video streaming, and over-the-air updates. A notable addition is the Vegan package, offering an interior certified by The Vegan Society, using entirely synthetic materials.
The electric GLC is slightly larger than its gas counterpart, with added legroom and a spacious trunk. A frunk adds extra storage, and the electric version will feature two powertrain options: a dual-motor GLC400 with 483 hp and a single-motor GLC300. Both models will have fast charging capabilities, with the ability to charge up to 185 miles in just 10 minutes.
Expect the 2027 GLC EV to launch in 2026 with advanced features, impressive performance, and a sleek, familiar design.
