February 11, 2017 – Jari-Matti Latvala inherited the lead of Rally Sweden after Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville crashed out of a WRC event while leading for the second rally in a row.
Neuville had controlled Saturday’s action, extending his lead to over 40 seconds. But he crashed on the end-of-day super special stage after damaging his steering, losing a wheel and any hopes of a first win in Sweden.
Ott Tanak is now just 3.8s behind Latvala after the supers special with the second M-Sport Ford of Ogier only another 12.8s behind.
Dani Sordo, who won the super special, is now Hyundai’s top representative in fourth, followed by Citroen driver Craig Breen and DMACK Ford man Elfyn Evans.
It is worth mentioning that SS12 was cancelled today following safety recommendations made by the FIA over the speed of the new WRC cars.
