BMW iX3 Debuts Neue Klasse Electric SUV Platform

The all-new BMW iX3 marks the official debut of BMW’s Neue Klasse electric platform, positioning it as the most significant BMW in decades. Revealed at the Munich Motor Show, the iX3 is the first model built on a dedicated EV platform, separate from internal combustion models like the current X3.

Designed from the ground up, the iX3 offers improved efficiency, performance, and range. Its dual-motor setup delivers strong acceleration and an estimated 400-mile range. Built on an 800-volt architecture, the iX3 supports ultra-fast charging, adding up to 230 miles in just 10 minutes.

While the exterior blends classic BMW elements with new design cues, the interior is a major shift. A thin digital display replaces traditional gauges, and the center touchscreen runs BMW’s latest Operating System X. Gone is the iDrive knob, as BMW moves toward a more streamlined user experience.

Underneath, the iX3 introduces BMW’s first software-defined vehicle architecture. Four central computing systems manage everything from power delivery to driver assistance. BMW also developed new electric motors and battery tech in-house for better efficiency and lower costs.

Built in Hungary, the iX3 leads BMW’s new era of EVs, aiming to redefine the future of the brand.
