BMW has revealed the first clear look at its upcoming Neue Klasse saloon, now officially named the BMW i3. This all-electric model revives a familiar name for a very different type of car, set to enter production in 2026.
The new i3 will be the electric version of the next-generation 3 Series, forming part of BMW’s shift into a new era of design and technology. While the iX3 SUV was the first Neue Klasse model to be shown, this saloon is expected to play a central role in BMW’s electric lineup.
The production i3 closely follows the Vision Neue Klasse concept, retaining its bold shark nose, three-box silhouette, and wide illuminated kidney grilles. These new design cues define the brand’s future identity.
BMW confirms that the i3 will likely share its battery with the iX3, a 108.7kWh unit that should deliver impressive range on a single charge.
It’s also part of a major product push, with BMW planning to launch or update 40 models by 2027. The i3 will be joined by both petrol and electric versions of the next M3, promising performance alongside sustainability.
Expect the full reveal next year, with more details to come soon.
